Professor Enrique Herrera Viedma has been a Full Professor in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Granada (UGR) since 2007. He currently holds the position of Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer at the UGR, a role he has served in since June 2015. He was Vice-President of Publications for the IEEE System, Man, and Cybernetics Society (2019-2020) and is currently Vice-President of Cybernetics.
Professor Herrera Viedma received the UGR’s Young Researcher Career Award in 2006, several UGR awards for research excellence (2003, 2010, 2019, and 2020), the Best Paper Award from IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, the 2016 Andrew P. Sage Best Transactions Paper Award (recognizing authors of the best paper published in IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems), and the HERBERT SIMON Best Paper Award in 2014 from the International Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making.
Professor Herrera Viedma is Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) as well as of the International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) for his contributions to fuzzy decision-making systems and linguistic modelling in 2021. He is also a member of the prestigious Spanish think tank, “Real Instituto Elcano,” supported by major Spanish companies and the Government of Spain.
He has published more than 560 peer-reviewed scientific works, including 350 articles in JCR journals (over 200 in Q1 and more than 50 in D1). In 2013, he published in the renowned journal Science on the role of digital libraries. He has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher in the categories of Computer Science and Engineering by Clarivate Analytics in the years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, and in Computer Science in 2020. According to Web of Science, his h-index is 85 (with more than 23,000 citations received), and according to Google Scholar, his h-index is 101 (with over 41,000 citations received). He currently has 50 highly cited articles indexed in Web of Science.
